The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, in collaboration with other members of the Panhellenic Council, participated in the 2nd Annual Divine Nine NC Legislative Day on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. This event is a collaborative effort of Divine Nine organizations. It was held at the Raleigh Convention Center (RCC), located at 500 S. Salisbury Street, Raleigh, N.C.
The purpose of this day was to increase awareness, build momentum and gain an understanding of important social issues that impact our communities. We received legislative updates on HBCU Education Initiatives, HB2, Medicaid Expansion, the body camera law, financial literacy, African Americans taking charge of their health, voting rights and other important issues.
