The people in St Vincent suffered the effects of the eruption of La Soufriere volcano.

Some people who lived in the direct path of the volcanic flow, which contained “a high-density mix of hot lava blocks, pumice, ash and volcanic gas,” was evacuated.  Other communities on the island suffered power outages, food shortages, etc.  Sponsored by the CHCAA International Development committee, chapter members collected car loads of food and supplies to ship to the islands most affected by the volcano eruption.
